Cheers to 11 Years

This weekend, Ant and I spent our 11th wedding anniversary in Cape May, New Jersey, one of the oldest vacation resorts in the nation.  Cape May is known chiefly known for its ornate Victorian houses in the historic district, shopping arcade, fine restaurants, beautiful beaches, lovely B&Bs, and the bird sanctuaries.  It’s also affectionately known as “Exit 0”, as it’s the last exit on the Garden State Parkway, literally the end of the line here in New Jersey.

As an anniversary gift, my mother-in-law surprised us with a long weekend at one of the B&Bs in town, and we enjoyed everything the area has to offer.  We had some fun on the Wildwood boardwalk Friday night and walked around Cape May town on Saturday and Sunday.  The weather was beautiful, the meals (courtesy of my parents) were delicious, and we had lots of fun reminiscing about our 20 years together (11 married, 9 dating).

This collage is cobbled together from various photos of Cape May houses from various online sources.

At the wedding, our first dance was At Last by Etta James and our last song was Let’s Stay Together by Al Green.

How about you? If you’re married, plan to get married, or have been married, what is/will be/was your wedding song?

Congrats on your wedding anniversary! What a great milestone and it looks like you celebrated in style! I’d love to visit “the Cape” one day, but I suppose it will have to wait until we’re through with this adventure! 😉

Congrats on your 20 years!!! We just celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary (we had 3 together prior to that). It is a long time, you know that? Hard to imagine life any other way but with this other half of ourselves. I honestly have never heard anything about Cape May but what a gorgeous place! As for a song, I always think of one that was popular when we got married “The One” by Elton John.

Happy Anniversary! It sounds like a wonderful way to spend your big day! We’ve been married for 33 years and didn’t dance at our wedding so we don’t have a wedding song.

Happy anniversary!! My brother just moved to Cape May last year (stationed there in the Coast Guard), and I was delighted because it’s such a beautiful place to visit. I bet the B+B was awesome!

Our wedding song was The Book of Love by Peter Gabriel…and the last song at our wedding was New York, New York (couple of Yankee fans here)…

              Happy Anniversary!!

I love New Jersey, but have only ever just passed through, I’d love to spend some real time there someday!! (One of my best friends is from Vernon, and she’s always talking fondly about her home state.)

Hmm… My wedding song! (Is it bad that I had to really think hard on this one??) 8 years ago I walked down the aisle to “Everything I do” by Bryan Adams, I remember that! But I really can’t even remember our first dance song – and neither can my husband! LOL!

Happy Anniversary, cuz! Love the pics. It is like a walk down memory lane. Is the candy shop still on the Cape May boards? They had these fantastic berry fruit chews. . . I can taste them now. And our wedding song? “It Had to be You.”

Congratulations! I’ve always wanted to go to Cape May, the houses there are so beautiful. An old college friend years (and I mean yeaarrrssss) ago spent the summer there working on restoring one of the Victorian houses there and I was always so jealous! It sounded incredible, and now with your pictures, I’m going to have to make some plans to visit that area. Just gorgeous.
