A Decade

This September marked 19 years for Anthony and me as a couple, 10 years of those married (9/22).  I have a vivid recollection of stargazing with him in December of 1992, asking him where he thought we’d be in 20 years and laughing at the thought of our 38-year-old selves.  (It’s not nearly as amusing now.)

I fell for this storybook stone chapel almost as hard as I fell for the man I married there on 9/22/01.

As great as I thought marrying and growing older with Ant might have been, our journey together has far outstripped anything I could have imagined all those years ago on our college campus.

How could I resist the charm of Anthony's cake topper suggestion?

I’m looking forward to many more exciting adventures and happy days with him starting next week when we kick off our next decade together on a wild driving tour of Ireland.

We're feeling regal already! I hope the TSA checks my suitcase for stowaways--my mom and sister pose a threat!

If you are married, were married, or plan to be married one day, where did/would you honeymoon?  Second honeymoon?

Aw, happy anniversary to you two! That chapel is just lovely. We were recently in the UK and driving on the other side of the road takes some getting used to.

We’ve been married 32 years and couldn’t afford a honeymoon at the time. We’ve never labeled any of our trips second honeymoon, so I guess we’ve never had one.

HB and I are slightly ahead of you…we’re almost at 20 years. However, it’s a sure bet I’ll never be driving around Ireland with him. The boy has no desire to travel anywhere he doesn’t consider a great surf spot. So I guess it’s a good thing we’re not married…the honeymoon discussion might cause a divorce!

Have a wonderful time…I’ll be clamoring for pictures when you get back!

Happy anniversary! Have a wonderful time in Ireland!

When I was in Jr High I went on an exchange trip to Germany, and then & there I decided that when I got married I would come back to Germany for my honeymoon and stay in a castle. 3 1/2 years ago that’s just what I did. Thankfully I found a husband who was up for a slightly non-traditional yet still romantic honeymoon.

Hubby and I just celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary (dated for 3 years prior). I’m LOVING that chapel…it is perfect. Ours wasn’t quite so charming…we got married in Vegas at the Little Chapel of the West, with fuscia carpeting and all. Elvis did not perform the ceremony however. We honeymooned in Hilton Head SC because our original destination, Sanibel Island, was evacuated because of Hurricane Andrew. We spent out 10th anniversary in Napa. Now that you bring it up, we need to be planning something for our 20th! (Happy happy anniversary!)

Congratulations to you and Anthony! Loved seeing pictures from your past (your wedding church was SO cute!), and it looks like you’ll have a wonderful trip to celebrate your 10 years of marriage (and the next 10)! Tony and I celebrated our honeymoon in Charleston, SC and Savannah, GA and loved every minute of our week away. If our big RTW trip goes as planned, it will fall during our 4th year of marriage (and our 6th year together total), but we’ll also both be turning 30 during that trip, which is perhaps the bigger milestone!

We aren’t married yet, but have been looking into what it would entail to get married in Ireland. Planning on a small one, so I think that tying the knot in the same church in County Cork where my GGgrandparents got hitched would be nice.

My Irishman and I celebrated our 18th anniversary on Sunday – it’s a great time of year for love! We go to Ireland most summers to visit him mum / sisters / infinite number of cousins, and I still shiver every time I start driving there. Between the traffic / illogical roads in Dublin, and the narrow narrow hedge-over-stone-wall lined lanes everywhere else, well, it’s a lot to overcome just moments after an overnight flight!

It’s always excellent to be there, though, and you will for sure have some stories to tell when you’re back.

Congrats on your marriage milestone and I LOVE that chapel!
