Spring Fever=Spring Cleaning

Nope, that's not me, but I sure would love to clean the house in a snazzy dress like that one!

Spring has come to Chez Book, Line, and Sinker, and I’ve got reorganization fever.  With the house now in ship-shape, I took some time this afternoon to work on my woefully neglected book blog.  I updated my Crystal Ball (Upcoming Reviews) section and added my rating system back on to my sidebar–it had been hiding in the tabs at the top of my page for the last year or so.

I have yet to tackle the page of blogs that I link–many of those blogs have moved to self-hosting and some have fallen off the radar completely.  I tend to use Google Reader to visit other bloggers and am not sure if the Links page is useful to anyone.  Maybe I’ll leave that chore for a rainy day–it’s downright summery here in New Jersey today and a stroll along the boardwalk might be in order.

Since I’m in the mood to reorganize, I thought other bloggers might be too.  I  penned a short wish-list of things I’d love to see on some book blogs I frequent:

  • Sometimes I like to send email.  Could you please put your email address in a highly visible place?  (I wear glasses and could miss it if it’s small font or tucked away somewhere clever. Ha!)
  • If my buddies on Blogger could enable the NAME/URL comment option, my life would be more complete.  I often have an impossible time trying to leave comments on some blogs, and using my Google account works but doesn’t link back here.

Is anyone else inspired by the change of seasons to make some blog updates?  Any suggestions or must-haves for book blogs?

Spring came here, but it’s gone away again. Today was wet and dreary. I need to do some spring cleaning on my blog, too. I’ve kind of been thinking of eliminating my blogroll altogether.

      Kathy,
I’m leaning that way myself but then wonder if I’m giving other bloggers the short shrift by not supporting them. I’ll ponder that over the next few weeks and then decide. Sorry about the wet weather–we had epic floods last weekend–and I’m thankful that the sun decided to finally shine!

I didn’t do any spring cleaning on my little blog, but I did, FINALLY, get my husband to take a picture for my header. Finally I have something better than just my name up there. I changed a color too. I am so new to this though, so it still looks like a kindergarten project. I like it though and am happy for his help.

I am glad you were able to get some things done. I still have a few things to do.

I keep my email address on my blogger profile (as a link instead of written down so bots can grab it), and definitely enable name/url. I would never want anyone to not be able to comment!

I think this is the first time I’ve seen your blog, Nat (I’m embarrassed to admit). It’s spiffy! 😀

Can you imagine cleaning in heels???

And isn’t our weather fantastic lately? I’m loving it.

And I have Open ID/URL checked for my blog … so I don’t know why you had trouble leaving a comment the other day. Stupid Blogger!

I cleaned up my blogroll by deleting it! It would require a lot of effort to update it all the time, and it would be long and unwieldy, and I don’t know how to make one of those scrolling lists, so the upshot was, I killed it!

That is just what I looked like when I cleaned my house today…except my rubber gloves were blue…to match the dress of course.

I love your crystal ball. I’m glad you updated it because I was scrolling down checking out what is coming up (I’m excited to see your review of The Queen of Palmyra) and I saw you have I Am am Emotional Creature on your Kindle. I did not know Eve Ensler had a new book out!! I have to pick it up, I hope you’re enjoying it.

I need to do some spring cleaning for sure, but I feel like maybe I need to make a plan for what I intend on doing in the next quarter so that I know what exactly I should be doing.

I started spring cleaning in Jan. Maybe that was cabin fever! I have started cleaning up the blog a little and hope to get more done. I will keep your suggestions in mind.

When you’re all done reorganizing your blog and life, can you come help me? I’m feeling the need but three days of being sick is not helping at all! I feel the need to purge!

I love this post. I love Spring cleaning – it’s a great way to start off the season. And I love the ideas that you listed here too! Especially on blogger, now that I’m self-hosting I have the same problem!
